The Blue Angels 2007

Tuesday, October 16, 2007 – 10:25 pm

Akash and I took the BART to San Francisco during Fleet Week, to watch The Blue Angels aerobatic display. Before their performance things got pretty loud, courtesy a solo F-16 and we ended up heading back home before the main event.

However, while we were there Sunil got some cool photos father and son.

Akash’s First Hike

Tuesday, October 16, 2007 – 10:13 pm

We went hiking in Big Basin Redwoods State Park a couple of weeks back. This State Park is California’s oldest, established in 1902. It is home to the largest continuous stand of ancient coast redwoods south of San Francisco, and consists of over 18,000 acres of old growth and recovering redwood forest, with mixed conifer and oaks. Elevations in the park vary from sea level to over 2,000 feet.

Big Basin

This was Akash’s first hike that he actually walked on his own. As a result, we ended up doing just a short section of the ‘Skyline To The Sea’ trail. Here are a few pictures from the hike.

Check out this video of Akash dancing to ‘Evil Ways’ by Santana. The video is pretty large and you must download it before watching (web browsers may not display this format). If you have any trouble watching it, make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime.

Note: This video is in .m4v format (courtesy Apple’s new software iMovie ‘08), which the latest version of quicktime can play. To find out to download quicktime, go to our videos page.

Mt Hamilton

Monday, August 20, 2007 – 3:56 pm

We visited Mt Hamilton on Saturday 18-Aug-07. The drive was long and winding and we got there around lunch time.

Lick Observatory (1867) is located on top of Mt Hamilton at a height of 4209 ft. There is some interesting information on Lick Observatory on Wikipedia .

Watch a very cool video of a day compressed into a few seconds (taken with the Lick Observatory Cam).
